I quit dog training
Hi ,
It’s a long story but true.
Back in 2006 I threw in the towel.
I was done. I was going to quit dog training. I was running a very popular business doing dog training, boarding, grooming, and daycare.
I was operating four businesses in one. I had to hire, train, market, and attend to each separate part of the business and I was burnt.
I went on a cruise to Bermuda with the lovely and beautiful Rachael. I hadn’t taken a trip in years and as the cruise ship was leaving New York harbor I looked out over the city and thought, “This is great. I am going to relax and enjoy the week.”
By the time we made it to Bermuda I was flat on my back sick as a dog.
I was worried about the business. Were the dogs being taken care of?
Were they getting their medications?
Did everyone show up when they were supposed to?
Were the kennels getting cleaned?
A million questions went through my head and the stress must have erupted into a full blown breakdown of my system.
When I got back a few things blew up and I decided it was time to move on. It was not an easy decision. I sold the business and decided the only dogs I wanted to deal with were mine. I moved away from the beautiful SouthCoast area and went on with my life.
I never fully quit dog training because I started an online business and did that for a few years along with other business ventures.
And then one morning I woke up the lovely and beautiful Rachael and said: “Guess what? We are moving back to Westport and starting a new dog training business. No kennel, no daycare, no grooming, just training.”
I thought she was going to make an appointment with a therapist to get my head checked out. I had told her for the past five years I was done training dogs.
Instead she said, “Okay great, let’s get busy packing.” WOW! What a woman!
We moved back to Westport, found a location, and opened up there two years ago and it was the BEST decision I had made in a long time.
We quickly became the most popular dog training school around and racked up over 100 Five Star Google reviews, have been featured in all the local publications, invited on local radio shows, Brain Lowny’s TV show, and last month were voted BEST DOG TRAINER IN THE SOUTHCOAST!
To say I am humbled and grateful would be an understatement!
Which is why I’ve pulled out all the stops and am having a Best of the Best Customer Appreciation Party for all my dog loving friends around the SouthCoast and beyond.
We have gifts, games, prizes, contests, refreshments and much much more for you.
I even hired a caterer to provide the food and the menu includes:
- Chourico and pepper sandwiches
- Buffalo chicken
- Caprese skewers
- Crudite (which I just learned is a fancy term for mixed vegetables)
- Stacey Cake’s famous Chocolate cupcakes with mocha frosting
Why would I go through all this?
Because I want you to know how much I appreciate your support, referrals, continued business, and friendship. I want to thank each and everyone of you and show my appreciation.
Hope to see you there.
All the best!
